Mutlag criticizes IA procedures against demonstrators

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from the Iraqiya Slate, Hamid Al Mutlag, criticized the procedures adopted by some of the Iraqi Army units against the demonstrators, describing them as unacceptable.

He told NINA on Sunday that “the people were hoping the army is adjusting its policy during the past years toward the citizens, but, when the people were demanding their rights, they were surprised with repressive procedures by some army units. These procedures are unacceptable and they do not match freedom and democracy principles.”

“The army should be a protector of order, law, and the people’s rights. It also should be a symbol of national dignity and believe in the values the Iraqis believe in,” he added.
