Sharks' Tim Smith fined by police
AAP-April,24-Cronulla halfback Tim Smith has been fined by police for remaining in the vicinity of licensed premises after being refused entry.
Smith was issued with a $550 infringement notice overnight.
In a statement released by the NRL club, the Sharks said the matter would be dealt with internally before a final report will be referred to the NRL early this week.
"Smith has not been charged by police and there is no allegation of anti-social conduct outside of this matter," the statement read.
Smith has been playing for Cronulla's reserve grade outfit in the NSW Cup, but could be in line for a call-up to coach Shane Flanagan's first grade squad following a leg injury to five-eighth Albert Kelly.
Kelly faces a long stint on the sidelines after suffering a broken leg in the Sharks' 30-12 loss to North Queensland on Saturday night, with Smith a potential replacement ahead of next round's clash with South Sydney.
Off-field troubles have dogged 26-year-old Smith throughout his career, dating back to his time at Parramatta where he attended a rehabilitation clinic after several drunken episodes.
