BKPM APPROVES FIVE INVESTMENT PROPOSALS IN BANGKA BELITUNG

Pangkalpinang, Sept 1 (ANTARA) - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has approved five new investment proposals to engage in various sectors in Bangka Belitung (Babel) province, an official said.

The five consisted of three domestic investment proposals and two foreign investment proposals, Head of the Babel Provincial Investment Coordinating Board (BKPMD) Asmawie Asmad said here on Monday.

The three domestic investors are PT Tata Hamparan Eka Persada, PT Koba Jaya Bateng and PT Jin Shah, he said.

PT Tata Hamparan Eka Persada planned to develop oil palm plantation and build a crude palm oil processing plant at a total cost of Rp814 billion, he said.

PT Koba Jaya Bateng intended to engage in the general mining sector with a planned investment of US$2 million, while PT Jin Shah in the export-import, wholesale and general mining businesses, he said.

He said a Korean company would set up a metallic silicone industry in Belinyu, Bangka.

The BKPM approved 68 investment proposals in Babel between 1971 and 2007 and most of the investors had already been operating there, he said.

To boost the inflow of investment into Babel, he said the BKPMD would continue promoting the province's investment potentials at home and abroad.

The local government had twice organized "Babel Gathering Businesses" in Jakarta, with about 200 investors attending, he said.

"We have routinely taken part in overseas trade and tourism expos including in Australia, Spain, South Korea and Thailand," he said.
