Yemen receives 479 Somali refugees during last three days

SANA'A, Sep. 01 (Saba)- Security sources said on Monday that about
479 Somali refugees, including 88 children and women, had arrived in
the provinces of Shabwa, Abyan and Hadramout during the last three
days.

According to the sources, ten Somali refugees sank while they were
trying to arrive in Yemeni beaches.

"Eight bodies were found in Shabwa province and two bodies in
Abyan", said the sources.

The majority of Somali refugees land safely on the beach at Bir Ali
in Yemen, but hundreds of survivors being forced overboard in deep
water far from shore by unscrupulous people traffickers.

The Somali refugees were provided with
emergency medical care, registered by the UN, and given the option
of free transit to Kharaz refugee camp, about 150km west of Yemen's
commercial capital, Aden.
