Three organizations ink MOU to build capacity of ASEAN nations
BANGKOK, April 22 (TNA) - NEDA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Institute for Trade and Development (ITD) and the Geo-informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), to promote cooperation of ASEAN nations in the area of economic and social development.
Acksiri Buranasiri, Director of the Neighboring Countries Economic Development Agency (NEDA), said on Friday NEDA would collaborate with the two organizations to build the capacity of ASEAN nations through information exchange, technological assistance and human resource development.
The Memorandum of Understanding calls for capacity-building activities including workshops and seminars, as well as for the distribution of essential information through publications. Buranasiri said important themes for future workshops include trade facilitation and infrastructure development.
Buranasiri went on to say the Memorandum of Understanding would further enhance connectivity among ASEAN nations and would prepare ASEAN nations for the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
NEDA is Thailand’s international aid agency with the mission to provide assistance, both technical and financial, to neighboring ASEAN nations in the area of economic development. NEDA works in accordance to government policies, under established regional and bilateral cooperation frameworks. (TNA)
