Qld police nab 79 drink-drivers

SYDNEY (AAP) - Apr 22 - Police in Queensland snared 79 drink-drivers on Thursday, the first day of their Easter road safety campaign.
However, driver behaviour has generally improved, according to statistics released by police on Friday morning.
In the same period in 2010, 88 drivers were charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Fixed speed cameras in Queensland recorded 159 speeding drivers last year, but none was caught on Thursday.
Mobile speed cameras nabbed 1333 drivers on the Thursday before Easter in 2010, but only 876 this year.
Two people recorded positive roadside tests for drug-driving, from 47 tests.
In total, police recorded 2566 traffic offences on Thursday, well under the 3288 figure 12 months ago.
The state has recorded one road fatality since the campaign began, with the death of a 29-year-old Brisbane man near Coominya in southeast Queensland on Thursday.
Queensland police will continue their Easter campaign until midnight (AEST) on Monday.
