Biden, Putin agree to continue momentum

WASHINGTON, April 22 (Itar-Tass) -- US. Vice President Joseph Biden
"underscored the continued need for cooperation" in a telephone
conversation with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the White House
said on Thursday.
It said Biden and Putin discussed a range of issues including Russia's
World Trade Organization accession, the Obama Administration's commitment
to terminate Jackson-Vanik's application to Russia, and next steps on
missile defense cooperation.
"The Vice President and Prime Minister agreed on the importance of
continuing momentum in relations between the United States and Russia.
Vice President Biden underscored the continued need for cooperation
between the United States and Russia on global security issues and pledged
to continue to work with Russia on facilitating travel between our two
countries," the White House said.
In Moscow Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Biden invited the
Russian prime minister to visit the United States.
"He said President Barack Obama and he personally would be glad to see
the Russian Prime Minister in the U.S.," Peskov said.
"To continue the dialogue, which the two men began during Biden's
recent visit to Russia, the sides discussed various aspects of
Russian-U.S. trade and economic relations, including Russia's accession to
the World Trade Organization," he added.
