Peshmerga Minister: Our forces remain in Sulaymaniy as long as security is threatened
Sulaymaniy (NINA) – Minister of Peshmerga in the government of Kurdistan region, Sheikh Jafar, said that deploying Peshmerga forces to the borders of Sulaymaniya, is to attack any party in Kurdistan.
In a statement to the press on Thursday, Apr. 21, Sheikh Jafra said that moving the forces is not intended to be against anyone, but acts of destruction and violence are increasing, where over 850 police and security men have been wounded, therefore it is the Peshmurga forces' duty to protect civilians and their properties, current situation requires that they stay and not to leave.
Reports on Thursday pointed out that thousands of security and Pesmerga elements have entered Sulaymaniya to disperse protestors who have been in the city's Hurriya Square for the last two months.
