Two asylum seekers on Villawood rooftop

Two asylum seekers are threatening to jump off the roof of Sydney's Villawood Immigration Detention Centre, a refugee advocate says.
The two men clambered onto a roof at the centre, in Sydney's southwest, on Wednesday morning in protest at their applications and subsequent appeals to remain in Australia being rejected.
Social Justice Network spokesman Jamal Daoud said the men, who are in their early 20s, were "very angry".
"They are throwing roof tiles on the ground of the detention (centre) and threatening to jump and end their lives if they will not get any answer about their fate," he said in a statement.
A Department of Immigration and Citizenship spokeswoman told AAP on Wednesday evening it was still working to resolve the situation.
The detention services provider is encouraging the men, who are from Iraq and Iran, to come down.
"Appropriate medical care was on site as a precaution."
Refugee Action Coalition spokesman Ian Rintoul said the men had been held in detention for 15 months and had their applications rejected twice.
"The two asylum seekers have been rejected at the appeal stage of the determination process and say they do not know what will happen to them now," Mr Rintoul told AAP.
"They say they will stay on the roof until they have an answer about what will happen to their cases."
There is a lack of legal representation inside the detention centre, leaving asylum seekers with little or no information, Mr Rintoul said.
