Russia to export first batch of flour to Indonesia
20/4 Tass 75
BARNAUL, April 20 (Itar-Tass) - Russian will ship its first batch of
400 tons of flour to Indonesia in May. An agreement to this effect was
signed on Wednesday to crown a two-day visit to the region by a business
delegation from Indonesia led by Indonesian ambassador to Russia Hamid
Awaluddin.
Russia will export flour under the brand name Aleika. The flour is
enriched with vitamins and minerals. It will be the first Russian flour to
reach the dynamically growing Indonesian market. In January 2011, the
Altai Mills concern obtained an Indonesian quality certificate.
"Indonesia's consumption pattern has changed in the recent years.
People began to eat more bread than rice. So we need flour. It is in great
demand," said the ambassador.
Indonesia ranks fourth in the world in terms of the number of
population (about 240 million people). Major flour suppliers to the
Indonesian market are Turkey, Sri Lanka, and Australia. Its annual flour
imports near one million tons.
