Taishet aluminium mill to be completed in 2016
IRKUTSK, April 20 (Itar-Tass) - The construction of a Taishet
aluminium mill is to be completed in 2016, an official in the press
service of the Irkutsk Region governor and government told Itar-Tass on
Wednesday, referring to Oleg Deripaska, Chairman of the Board and General
Director of the United Company RUSAL.
Prospects for the development of RUSAL enterprises, located in Irkutsk
Region, and the expected level of of tax revenue from their operation to
the regional budget were discussed at a working meeting betwee RUSAL
executives and Dmitry Mezentsev, IrkutskRegion Governor and Head of the
Regional government.
Two RUSAL-run aluminium mills currently operate in Irkutsk Region --
in Bratsk and Shelekhovo. Deripaska-controlled EuroSibEnergy private power
company, Russia's major one, also owns 50 percent of the shares of the
regional company Irkutskenergo, the core of which consists of three
hydropower stations of the Angara River power station series -- Irkutsk,
Bratsk, and Ust Ilim .
The construction of the Taishet aluminium mill with a capacity of
750,000 tonnes of crude metal a year was started in 2006 and was later
suspended owing to the world economic downturn. Each of its four buildings
will house 168 highly productive electrolysers. The enterprise will also
include a foundry, anode, and energy shops, gas purifying installations,
as well as a full set of infrastructure facilities.
