Sadr: Government thinks that every protest, demonstration against it

Baghdad (NINA) – Leader of the Sadrist Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, said that the government thinks that each demonstration is against it, therefore it tries to impose restrictions on demonstrators.

Responding to the government assigning certain locations for demonstration, Sadr said, "The government pretends being democratic, but such action contradicts democracy; the government fears that every outcry or demonstration is against it, therefore it tries to restrict them (demonstrators) this is unacceptable."

He asked whether such restrictions are to be imposed on pro Maliki's government demonstrations.

It is worth noting that, earlier, that Baghdad Operations Command has assigned football fields in Baghdad for demonstrations to take place in them, preventing demonstrator from going out to the streets and Tahreer and Firdus squares to express their opinions because of the damage the inflict on shops and businesses, as well as traffic.
