Iraqi association demands halting violence against journalists in Kurdistan

Baghdad (NINA) – Iraqi Journalists’ Rights Defense Association IJRDA demanded quick movement to halt violence against journalists in Kurdistan, IJRDA said in a statement Tuesday.

IJRDA added “we followed up on the violations committed against the journalists in the region, they reached 226 from the period starting from February 17 until now,” referring that most of the violations took place in Sulaymaniya Province.

It expressed “deep concern over the continuation of unjustified violence,” wondering of reasons behind UNAMI’s silence and not practicing its role in preventing violence against journalists in spite all the demands directed by IJRDA, a matter that led to the increase of violations greatly.
