Tajikistan works effectively on CIS integration - official

DUSHANBE, April 19 (Itar-Tass) - Executive Secretary of the
Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergei Lebedev praised the
efforts towards promoting integration by the leadership of Tajikistan, the
country which holds the rotating CIS presidency this year.
"All the Tajik bodies are carrying out effective and fruitful work to
develop and strengthen integration processes in CIS," Lebedev told
reporters after a meeting with Tajik leader Emomali Rakhmon on Tuesday,
calling his talk with Rakhmon " "extensional and productive."
The main item on the agenda of the meeting was Tajikistan's presidency
and the implementation of the measures scheduled for 2011.
Dushanbe has already hosted visiting session of the CIS inter-state
fund for humanitarian cooperation, the railway workers council and the
council of CIS army chiefs of staff.
Lebedev underlined that the year 2011 is special for the CIS, which is
making the 20th anniversary of its establishment.
"I've discussed with the Tajik president the preparations for the CIS
summit due in Dushanbe in September, and submitted to him for signing the
statement by the heads of CIS states on the occasion of the 70th
anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, which he signed
as the leader of the CIS country that holds CIS presidency," he said.
The statement will be submitted for signing to all the CIS leaders, he
added.
A jubilee exhibition will take place in Moscow's exhibition enter on
the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent
States. The 6th forum of CIS scientists will take place in Kiev, while
Minsk will host a CIS workshop conference.
The informal meeting between CIS leaders in Moscow in December will
crown the celebrations. Emomali Rakhmon has agreed to participate in the
jubilee summit, Lebedev said.
