President Saleh recalls for Yemenis to participate in parliamentary
SANA'A, Aug. 31 (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh recalled on
Sunday for all Yemenis to be ready to participate in the upcoming
parliamentary elections.
In his speech to Yemeni people in the country and abroad and Arab
and Islamic peoples on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan,
President Saleh said "We recall for all Yemenis in the country to be
ready to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections",
affirming that the elections will take place at the planned time in
order to promote the democratic approach and embodying the principle
of the peaceful transfer of power.
"In Yemen, we have a democratic experience which was impressive and
encouraged by the World. Therefore, we will continue building
democracy that expresses the willingness of our people through the
ballot boxes based on the constitution and the laws in force".
President Saleh pointed out that the process of construction and
development could not be stopped whatever the difficulties and
constraints.
"Therefore, the largest battle of the country is economy that gives
blessed outcomes, where we witness new achievements annually. Our
commitment to democratic and pluralistic approach could not be
retreated or changed whatever challenges", said Saleh.
He noted that the Islamic nation, the number of its population
reaches more than one billion and three million people, still
suffers the greatest threats inherited from the decades of
underdevelopment, decay, despotism and colonialism, affirming its
current battle must be directed toward the eradication of ignorance,
poverty, diseases, unemployment and isolation.
"No way to overcome those problems without the establishment of
sincere brotherly cooperation relations among all Islamic countries
and bridges of integration and unity by progressive steps that were
taken by other peoples and nations", emphasized Saleh.
He warned the Islamic nation faces an open war waged by several
methods against our religion and the Seal of Prophets and
Messengers, Prophet Mohammed.
"Unfortunately, there are some people those give justification of
that war by distorting the Islamic religion and providing an
erroneous image of Islam through committing heinous crimes of
terrorism, targeting the lives of innocents, destructing
installations and targeting security and stability through resorting
the extremism's ideas driven by malignant thoughts", said Saleh.
