Finnish, Czech festivals to host Iran’s “White as Moon”
TEHRAN, April 19 (MNA) -- Iranian play “White as Moon” by director Afsaneh Mahian will be heading first to Finland and then to the Czech Republic in May to be staged at two international festivals.
The Black and White Theater Festival will be running from May 24 to 28 in the city of Imatra, and Prague will be hosting a nine-day Fringe Festival opening on May 27.
“White as Moon” is not a puppet show but is based on music, movements and images, Mahian told the Persian service of the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) on Monday.
The play enjoys the central theme of a love story with poetry composed by Dariush Faezi, she said, adding that Faezi and Behnaz Jafari are the two actors of the play.
Singer Homayun Shajarian, stage designer Manuchehr Shoja, and costume designer Maryam Moini are collaborating in this project.
The Black and White Theater Festival in Finland is an alternative theater event promoting puppet theater, dance, and pantomime. Fringe Festival will take place in nine venues in the beautiful Mala Strana area of Prague.
Mahian expressed hope to stage the play in Tehran and said that the play most probably would go on stage in Italy and Sweden as well.
