Nujeifi: Parliament seeks better relations with EU
Baghdad (NINA) – Parliament Speaker, Osama Al Nujeifi, said the Parliament seeks better relations with the European Union and to fix joint cooperation foundations in all domains in service of the Iraqi and European peoples’ interests, a statement issued by Nujeifi’s office quoted him as saying.
“Nujeifi, during his meeting with the Polish ambassador, Stanisoav Smolin, and the EU Charge D’Affaires in Baghdad, discussed the most important topics due to be tackled in the visit that a delegation from the European Parliament is due to conduct on April 26,” the statement added.
Regarding the American troops, Nujeifi added that “the agreement with the Americans says that their forces leave Iraq by the end of 2011,” stressing that “the government did not inform us of any new agreement.”
Both sides discussed issues like holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad and Ashraf Camp which will be discussed in parliament during the few coming days, expressing the parliament’s desire to form a neutral committee to study that case.
Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations were also reviewed, Nujeifi stressed that these relations are prosperous.
