Medvedev to stay at Grand Hyatt hotel in Hong Kong
HONG KONG, April 16 (Itar-Tass) -- One of the best five-star hotels in
central Hong Kong -- the Grand Hyatt -- will be the temporary residence of
the President of Russia this weekend. Dmitry Medvedev will stay here
during his first visit to this special region of China.
The Grand Hyatt in the seven-million metropolis is the only hotel that
offers exclusive Russian-language service. In recent years it has become
increasingly popular among Russian businessmen who come to Hong Kong.
From the upper floors, where Medvedev will reside, the modern hotel
has a wonderful view of the famous Victoria Strait, the coasts of which
are built up with skyscrapers. On the other side of the strait is the
densely populated Kowloon Peninsula, whose name means "nine dragons".
The hotel, which has extensive experience of receiving large
government delegations, is located in the Wan Chai area, adjacent to the
palace of international exhibitions and conferences.
Currently tightened security measures are taken there. Policemen are
posted everywhere. It is possible to enter into the hotel only through
metal detectors.
There are floral arrangements of white, blue and red colours - to
match the Russian flag - in the main hall of the hotel. The national flag
of the Russian Federation will be placed there later.
The Grand Hyatt has a total of 549 rooms on the 36 floors, most of
them with a view of the Victoria Harbour. Light warm tones and natural
wood dominate in the interior of the apartments.
At various times, Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and
U.S. President Bill Clinton stayed at the high-calls hotel.
Among its interesting features are its own ocean yacht and its unique
spa rooms. Staying there, guests can receive treatment without leaving the
room.
An important advantage of the hotel in point of security is that it
has a convenient separate entrance for transport.
