Tehran embassy denies clash between Iranian, Afghan border guards
TEHRAN, April 16 (MNA) -- The Iranian Embassy in Kabul has dismissed a report by an Afghan newspaper, published on April 12, claiming that Iranian border guards fired shots at Afghan border police in a clash last week.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Iranian Embassy announced that a number of Afghan nationals who were attempting to enter Iran illegally from Afghanistan’s southwestern province of Nimruz were confronted by Iranian border guards and fired at them from the Afghan soil, injuring two Iranian guards.
The statement added that the Iranian and Afghan border police are investigating the issue.
