Enemy’s efforts to counter Islamic awakening futile: cleric

TEHRAN, April 16 (MNA) – Tehran Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati has said the efforts by the enemy to counter the Islamic awakening in certain North African and Middle Eastern nations are futile.

“The enemy cannot do anything in the face of the wave of the Islamic awakening, which has been shaped in the region,” Jannati told worshippers.

He also said Iran cannot remain silent toward the brutal crackdowns on people in certain regional countries.

“The Bahraini Muslims are not only suppressed by their rulers but they are also tortured by Saudi Arabian troops,” he noted. “The Islamic Republic cannot be indifferent toward regional developments.”

Regional nations want Islam and they can no longer tolerate the tyranny of their dictators, thus the U.S. and its allies are not able to influence the popular uprisings as people are awake to realities.
