New bank to be set up for Thai grass-roots
BANGKOK, April 15 (TNA) - Thailand Post will next month open its bank for the poor in three pilot areas, including Om Koi District of the northern Chiang Mai Province, La Ngu District of the southern Satun Province and Prang Phu District of the northeastern Si Sa Ket Province.
Anusara Jitmitraparp, President of Thailand Post Co, said on Friday that Thailand Post is establishing its bank to help the Thai grass-roots in remote areas who have no access to other financial institutions.
Anusara confirmed that Thailand Post will start to provide soft loans to the local grass-roots in the three areas under the pilot project in May 2011.(TNA)
