Jana Pittman separates from husband again
Two-time 400m hurdles world champion Jana Pittman has separated from her husband Chris Rawlinson for a second time.
The pair first married a week after the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, with Pittman giving birth to son Cornelis later that year.
She claimed her second world title in 2007 with Rawlinson - who won the 2002 400m hurdles title representing England - as her coach.
They initiated divorce proceedings in 2009 before remarrying the following year, with the couple moving for a time to live in England.
Pittman is now back in Australia with their son Cornelis, living and training in Melbourne under her former mentor Phil King.
"I have had a very turbulent last five years that I have found incredibly draining," Pittman said in a statement on Friday.
"I really respect and appreciate Chris's contribution to my athletic career and of course as a father to our son Cornelis.
"I am spending all my energies concentrating on athletics and being a good mother to Cor.
"I hope people will respect my privacy through these trying times."
Pittman, 28, pulled out of this weekend's Australian national championships with a calf strain.
She still harbours hopes of winning an elusive first Olympic title in London next year.
