Thailand's Songkran death toll rises to 148
BANGKOK, April 15 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Interior's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said in its updated report released on Friday that the country'a Songkran death toll from road accidents has soared to 148 totally, from April 11-14, and 2,316 others have been injured.
According to the official report, Bangkok had the largest number of this year's Songkran fatalities of eight so far, followed by seven each in the central Suphan Buri and the northern Chiang Mai Provinces and six each in the southern Nakhon Si Thammarat and the northern Pitsanulok Provinces.
The official report also said that there were 2,141 road accidents during the first four-day Songkran festivity nationwide, with 515 accidents reported on Thursday alone, killing 32 people and injuring 556 others.(TNA)
