Saudi-Indonesian joint commission holds meeting
Riyadh, Aug 30, SPA -- The Saudi-Indonesian joint commission for
economic and technical cooperation began here today its 8th meeting.
The Saudi side at the two-day meeting is led by undersecretary of the
ministry of labor for labor affairs Abdurrahman al-Bawadri, while the
Indonesian side is led by undersecretary of the foreign ministry for
the Asian, pacific and African affairs Brimo Yolyanto.
Speaking on the occasion, al-Bawadri underlined the importance of
enhancing cooperation between the Kingdom and Indonesia, notably in
the filed of trade exchange and issues pertaining to the Indonesian
workforce in the Kingdom.
Confirming the keenness of the labor ministry on protecting the
rights of all expatriates in the country, al-Bawadir noted that the
Kingdom hosts more than 450,000 Indonesians.
On his part, Yolyanto highlighted the existing deep-rooted
Saudi-Indonesian relations.
He noted that trade exchange between the two countries increased from
$4.1 billion in 2006 to $4.3 billion in 2007.
He pointed out that in 2003 the Kingdom was registered as the biggest
foreign investor in Indonesia.
