PM encourages Thais to strengthen their families

BANGKOK, April 14 (TNA) - On the occasion of the Thai Family Day on April 14, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said families are a very important institution of the society and encouraged all Thai people to build their strong families as a good deed in part of their contribution to nationwide celebrations of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's seventh cycle birthday on December 5 this year.

The Thai premier said in his statement marking the country's Family Day that families can ensure suitable development for their members, produce quality people for the country and become a strong foundation for the nation, and that strong families also form an important social capital which can also prevent and solve national problems and ensure the sustainability of the society.

Abhisit noted that the Thai government is supporting the empowerment of families by promoting values and morality together with religious, educational and social institutions in order that family members are decent people with quality and morality and know their roles and responsibilities. This will make the strong and independent families which will not be a burden of the society.

The Democrat premier also urged the Thai people to fully observe their duties and roles, loving one another and following the sufficiency economy philosophy recommended by His Majesty the King so that the Thai society will be strong and stable. (TNA)
