ABOUT WORKS DONE BY MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia gave Wednesday a report on its works done April 1-8, 2011.
Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Zandanshatar participated in the first general assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) held April 4-5 in Abu Dhabi. He expressed a position of Mongolia's government, saying Mongolia, as of one of the founders of the IRENA, intends to actively participate in the agency's activities, develop its cooperation in, for example, creating renewable energy resources data, conducting researches on solar and wind energy resources, organizing international and regional trainings, strengthening skills of trained staffers, implementing related projects and programs.
The Director of the UN Population Fund of Asia and Pacific Regional Office, Mrs. Nobuko Horibe paid official visit to Mongolia. In frames of it, she was received by the Premier S.Batbold and Parliament Speaker D.Demberel. She met D.Ochirbat, head of the Standing committee on social policy, education, culture and science; S.Lambaa, the Minister of Health; T.Gandi, the Minister of Social Welfare and Labor; B.Bolor, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; and S.Mendsaikhan, head of the National Statistical Committee.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a meeting of Mongolia's side of the Mongolia-Russia inter-governmental commission.
The state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar gave reports on his visits to Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Bulgaria Ts.Gankhuyag signed an inter-governmental agreement between Mongolia and Cyprus on exempting the diplomatic and official passport holders of the both countries from visas.
The state secretary of the Ministry D.Tsogtbaatarhas received Vaughn Lantz, a director of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in charge of Northeast Asian Affairs.
A consultative meeting took place April 4-5 in Brussels, Belgium, among diplomats in charge of trade and economic affairs of Mongolia's embassies in European Union's (EU) countries.
A Mongolian representative participated in a regional meeting of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) April 5-8 in Vietnam.
