Book on energy crises in Pakistan launched
Islamabad (PPI) - Oxford University Press launched its latest publication ‘Energy Crises in Pakistan: Origins, Challenges and Sustainable Solutions’, written by Muhammad Asif.
The book provides a powerful contribution to the global debate concerning energy provision through an exhaustive analysis of the difficult situation in Pakistan. It presents an original approach to the energy challenges of Pakistan and to finding sustainable solutions for a problem which ultimately affects all societies in some measure.
The author studies the factors that underline the present energy crises in Pakistan by examining the role of the existing energy policies and decision-making implications of the crises. It presents policy guidelines and provides a set of robust solutions to achieve energy in the country.
Dr. Muhammad Asif is a charted engineer and is currently a lecturer at the Glasgow Caledonian University. His areas of expertise include renewable energy, energy conservation and management energy policy, energy security and sustainable development. He has over fifty research publications to his credit and sits on a number of international energy policy forums.
The speakers at the launch included Khawaja Muhammad Asif, former federal minister for petroleum and natural resources, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, TV anchor Syed Talat Hussain, Dr. Samad Mubarak Man, Member Science and Technology, Planning Commission and others.
Earlier in her welcome address, Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press Pakistan said that book not only examines the energy crises from many different angles, analyzing the role of various factors such as policy and decision-making in creating the predicament we are facing, it also offers policy guidelines and solutions to resolve the crises.
