Russia to send textbooks for Tajikistan's Russian-language schools

DUSHANBE, April 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russia will send books for Tajikistan's Russian-language schools, Tajik Education Minister Abdudjabor Rakhmonov told a news conference on Monday.
"Tajikistan registers the deficit of Russian language textbooks for first-grade to eleventh grade pupils, therefore we addressed the Russian Education Ministry for assistance," he said.
Moreover, during this academic year the Tajik-Russian Slavonic
University will open departments for training Russian-speaking teachers in physics and maths, chemistry and biology and natural sciences, which will reduce the problem of the lack of Russian-speaking teachers, he said.
"We have close relations with our Russian counterparts on a wide range of problems," the minister said.
At present, over 500 boys and girls from Tajikistan are studying at Russia's higher education institutions under the Education Ministry's quotas.
Tajik schoolchildren and students study the Russian language in
compliance with President Emomali Rakhmon's decree on advanced study of the Russian and English language.
