FORTY-TWO FOREIGN INVESTMENT PROJECTS APPROVED IN N SULAWESI SINCE 2005
Manado, N Sulawesi, Aug 29 (ANTARA) - The North Sulawesi provincial government has since 2005 approved 42 foreign investment projects worth Rp1.5 trillion (US$174.8 million), an official said.
The projects were mostly engaged in the fishery and tourism sectors, Head of the Program Development Unit at the North Sulawesi Regional Investment and Cooperation Coordination Board (BKPMKR) Ridwan Zees said here on Friday.
Over the period, the agency received 55 foreign investment proposals worth US$272.4 million but only 42 of them were realized, he said.
He said the amount of foreign investment in the province reached US$54.6 million with 18 projects in 2005, US$46.3 million with 13 projects in 2006, US$65.9 million with 8 projects in 2007 and US$7.8 million with three projects in 2008.
One of the companies that invest in North Sulawesi this year is PT Gargil Indonesia of the Philippines, which is engaged in the vegetable oil industry with an investment of US$4.6 million.
