STUDENTS CALL FOR CLOSURE OF NIGHTSPOTS DURING RAMADHAN
Bandung, W Java, Aug 29 (ANTARA) - A number of university students grouped in the Muslim Students Association here Friday staged a rally calling for the closure of nightspots during the upcoming fasting month.
This action is a moral appeal to the Bandung city administration, police and the public in view of the upcoming fasting month scheduled to start on September 1, 2008.
The students believed that preventing wickedness and sinful activities are the only way to maintain the sacredness of the Ramadhan holy month.
Therefore, the students urged the Bandung city administration to take stern action against those ignoring the call.
The students also agreed to avoid sweeping action against the violators, while urging the police to destroy alcoholic drinks and abuse of narcotic drugs.
