Vladivostok is best city in innovations in education -competition

VLADIVOSTOK, April 10 (Itar-Tass) -- The CIS and EurAsEC Best City
international competition named Vladivostok as winner in the nomination,
called Innovations in education. The jury appreciated the city projects to
attract young teachers in education and those of innovations in
educational process, the city administration's press service said.
Vladivostok presented the two municipal programmes, which had started
in 2009.
The first programme includes additional bonuses to young teachers, who
teach in municipal educational system. The programme attracted over 100
young specialists to schools. Under the programme, a teacher got a
one-time bonus of five salaries, or 26,900 roubles. Besides, every month a
young teacher got 50 percent above the monthly salary.
The second project is devoted to schools' innovations programmes, and
winners may receive one million roubles for implementation of those
programmes. Kindergartens and additional education for children may
participate in the programme.
The CIS and EurAsEC Best City competition is organised by the
International Assembly of capitals and major cities in cooperation with
Russia's Ministry of Regional Development, the CIS executive committee,
EurAsEC's Integration committee and the All-Russian council of social and
economic development of big cities.
This year's competition featured participants from 81 cities, which
presented over 700 programmes in education, healthcare, cultural, social,
youth policies, and sports.
