Jambi, Aug 29 (ANATARA) - In the Sriwijaya Air plane accident that happened at Jambi's Sultan Thaha airport on Wednesday (Aug 27), 3 people were injured seriously and 20 others lightly, police said.

The three seriously injured persons were a farmer and two members of his family who happened to be on the vegetable patch which the plane overran after slipping off the runway, sources in the police evacuation team said on Friday.

Lightly injured were 18 passengers and two cabin attendants who all had to be sent to Jambi's Asia Medika Hospital. Some of them were on Friday still being treated as inpatients and others as outpatients, a hospital public relations officer said.
The seriously injured farmer, identified as Seno (50), had to have his left leg and right arm amputated. His wife, Pasri (45), and son Rahmad Sholikin (4), sustained head injuries and broken limbs.
Carrying 123 passengers, the plane had come from Jakarta and met the accident moments after touch-down on the landing strip of Sultan Thaha airport.
One of the lightly injured passengers was identified as a foreign national, Mahkoto Tochigi.
