"FORUM OF THE POOR" STAGES RALLY OUTSIDE PKS OFFICE
Jakarta, Aug 28 (ANTARA) - Scores of people claiming to be members of the "Forum of the Poor" staged a rally outside the office of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS)'s executive board here on Friday to reject the nomination of Marwan Batubara as the party's legislative candidate.
While serving as a member of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), Marwan paid little attention to the aspirations and interests of Jakarta residents, the forum's chief, Abdul Rahman bin Rasyid, said.
Citing an example, he said, when many houses owned by the poor were demolished, Marwan did nothing to protect them.
Likewise, when floods affected several parts of the capital some time ago, Marwan did not assist flood victims nor voice aspirations to deal with the floods, he said.
Instead, he was active in the state wealth rescuing committee, as well as in politicizing the telecommunication business in the country, he said.
