Russia's large amphibious ship to participate in Baltops-2011

KALININGRAD, April 9 (Itar-Tass) -- The Minsk large amphibious ship of
the Baltic Sea fleet will participate in the Baltops-2011 (Baltic
operations) annual naval exercises, the Baltic Fleet's press service told
Itar-Tass.
The Baltops-2011 will take place in the Baltic Sea in June according
to plan.
The naval exercises have been held since 1993 under the Partnership
for Peace program. This year they will involve surface ships, submarines
and naval aviation of 14 countries, including Russia.
During the active phase in the Baltic Sea the ships will learn to hit
air and sea targets and manoeuvre in a squadron of warships and will
train communication skills.
Besides, the ships will have to search for and destroy a submarine of
a notional enemy, inspect ships and hold a joint exercise to learn how to
counteract terrorism at sea.
