Kazakhstan needs Masimov's anti-crisis experience - Nazarbayev
ASTANA, April 8 (Itar-Tass) -- Newly appointed Kazakh Prime Minister
Karim Masimov should continue social and economic programs, which are
extremely important for the country, Kazakh President Nursultan
Nazarbayev, who appointed Masimov as Prime Minister, said on Friday.
The president estimated positively Masimov's work, particularly a
large-scale industrial and innovative program, which should play a
decisive role in Kazakh economic reforms.
Nazarbayev reappointed Masimov as Kazakh Prime Minister, because the
country should continue the reforms. The president called the task of
industrialization as "very complicated," noting that "very much depends
from this for the future of the country and for a future generation of
Kazakh citizens."
Masimov's anti-crisis experience also played an important role.
Masimov's work at the post of the prime minister in the hardest period of
the crisis allowed Kazakhstan to avert the GDP fall and the economic
growth rate began to rise to the pre-crisis level quite rapidly. "The
government has done a major amount of work to overcome an outrageous
crisis," the president noted.
Masimov's anti-crisis experience can be helpful, if the negative
tendencies will begin to take shape in the world economy again and may
affect Kazakh economy either.
Meanwhile, Masimov established a successful cooperation with the
parliament that is particularly important, when the role of the executive
branch of power is growing stronger in the republic and its powers should
be made broader.
The president noted that the previous prime ministers did not always
succeed to cooperate efficiently with the deputies. "The current
government has another approach to these issues. This is important for our
joint work," Nazarbayev pointed out.
Masimov headed the government since 2007 that is longer than all his
predecessors since the Republic of Kazakhstan proclaimed independence.
