HEC provincial subject, Sindh law minister
Karachi, April 08, 2011 (PPI): Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro said on Friday that Higher Education Commission HEC is a provincial subject as through the 18th amendment in constitution passed unanimously by the parliament, it has been devolved to the provinces being part of education ministry.
“Now it needs no debate as it would be an insult to the unanimous decision taken by the parliament,” he said in a statement.
Law minister remarked that those who argue that devolution of HEC would darken the future of students were in fact afraid of their own ‘dark future’ and advised them to desist from issuing statements against the parliament and provincial autonomy in the name of interests of students.
Ayaz Soomro said the PPP wanted devolution of federal ministries to the provinces a long time back but the plans could not be materialized owing to advises given by such so-called intellectuals. “Now the PPP government has started implementing its manifesto and devolution program is one of it being done through 18th amendment.
