SPEAKER MEETS EBRD PRESIDENT
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel met Friday a delegation led by Mr. Thomas Mirow, the president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The Speaker has said Mongolia is entering a development stage, and that the private sector has become dominant at the property relations. He has expressed a confidence that the cooperation will widen in the times of plans on putting the biggest strategic deposits into economic circulation. He has emphasized Mongolia wants to expand its partnership relations with the EBRD and to introduce standards of the European Union.
In turn, Mr. Mirow has said the EBRD attaches a great importance to assisting those countries that are transmitting to market economy rather than earning benefits. He has said the EBRD is paying a special attention to helping the Mongolia private sector, and emphasized an importance of a balanced with other sectors development of the mining sector.
The bank intends to cooperate with Mongolia not only in the banking sector, but also in developing energy and railway fields, he noted.
"Mongolia aims to boost its economic sector at a balanced level by exploiting its mineral resources and to ensure the environmental balance. We want to study experiences of the EBRD and to cooperate in these directions," the Speaker has said adding Mongolia will implement the tenders' transparency and principles of fair competitiveness by keeping sustainable environment for the laws on investment and taxes.
Present at the meeting were D.Zorigt, head of the parliamentary Standing committee on economics; D.Davaasambuu, an advisor to the Speaker; and other officials.
