Govt taking measures to control narcotics business, Senate told
Islamabad, April 08, 2011 (PPI): The Senate was informed Friday that the government is taking concrete measures to control narcotics business as well as rehabilitate the addicts.
Minister for Narcotics Control Khuda Bux Rajar answer a question in the Senate said poppy crops was destroyed in various agencies besides recovering of heroin and hashish.
He said in Balochistan 7086 KG heroin and 28386 KG hashish was recovered during the last three years while sixty persons involved in this business
have been arrested.
Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said that work on Gwadar International Airport is underway which will be completed at a cost of over seven point six billion rupees. He said thirty-seven percent work on the project has been completed.
Interior Minister A. Rehman Malik in a written reply informed the house that 3169 persons were killed in 2488 suicide bomb attacks in the country during the last three years while 6540 persons were injured in these attacks.
He said three hundred sixty persons involved in bomb attacks have been arrested during this period.
