AZERI DEPUTY FM MEETS SPEAKER OF AFGHAN PARLIAMENT

Baku, 29 AUGUST,(AzerTAj)Azerbaijan`s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Araz Azimov
met Thursday with Speaker of the Afghan Parliament Yunus Qanuni on the last day of
his visit to the country, Azerbaijan`s charge d`affaires to Afghanistan Ibrahim
Gafarov said.
Azimov said his visit to Afghanistan came at the request of Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliyev. He said during the visit he had held productive meetings with Afghan
ministers of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Defense, Culture and Industry,
Health, and Economy.
Yunus Qanuni, in his turn, praised Azerbaijani delegation`s visit and stressed the
importance of expanding political, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation
between the two states.
Qanuni said he is also going to visit Azerbaijan.
During the visit, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister held meeting also with NATO`s
Senior Civilian Representative in Afghanistan Ambassador Fernando Gentilini, US
ambassador to Afghanistan William Wood, ISAF Commander General David McKiernan and
commander of NATO`s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in the Kabul
region French General Michel Stollsteiner. The meetings focused on the ongoing
processes in Afghanistan.
