Sverdlovsk Reg, Vietnam have potentialities to step up cooperation
HANOI, April 8 (Itar-Tass) -- The Sverdlovsk Region and Vietnam have
substantial potentialities to step up cooperation in a number of
promising areas, which include metallurgy, machine building, energy,
pharmaceutics, education and others, the region's Governor Alexander
Misharin said in an interview to Itar-Tass, commenting on the results of
the two-day working visit to Vietnam.
"The specializations of our region are traditionally ferrous and
nonferrous metallurgy, machine building, mining and energy, including
atomic energy. The Middle Urals has what to offer to Vietnam in these
areas," the governor said.
At the same time, there is a significant untapped potential for
cooperation in bilateral relations. The region, he said, "is interested
not only in developing bilateral trade relations with Vietnam, but in
setting up joint competitive enterprises that would operate both in the
Sverdlovsk Region and in Vietnam's territory."
Promising areas for cooperation with Vietnam are also agriculture,
trade and investment cooperation and personnel training, Misharin added.
The Sverdlovsk Region's head paid particular attention to the theme of
cooperation with Vietnam in education. "Our region, which has more than 30
higher-learning institutions and over 100 major research centres, is ready
to accept students from Vietnam," he noted. In the Sverdlovsk Region
leading specialists work in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry,
energy and mining - all the areas in which Vietnam traditionally has high
interest. "Sverdlovsk higher-learning institutions are ready not only to
train Vietnamese students, but also send teachers to give lectures in
Vietnam's institutions," the governor said.
