Senior official quits ruling United Russia

MOSCOW, April 8 (Itar-Tass) -- A senior United Russia official quit
the ruling party, which said it did not regret the resignation and there
was no political intrigue behind it.
The party said on its website on Thursday Alexei Chadayev, 31,
resigned as head of the political department of the central executive
committee of the party. He occupied the post from 2010 and was also deputy
head of the central executive committee of United Russia.
Chadayev said he was resigning because of disagreement with the
Kremlin position regarding Libya. Russia abstained and did not veto the UN
Security Council resolution which mandated a no-fly zone in Libya.
However head of the central executive committee of the party Andrei
Vorobyov said there were no politics behind Chadayev's decision.
"The resignation of Alexei Chadayev has no political context as it can
be seen from his resignation offer which is on my table. There are no big
politics and the former colleague most likely mistakes the wish for the
reality," he told reporters.
However Vorobyov admitted Chadayev was in charge of "important work
guideline on the eve of the upcoming election campaign."
"He clearly realized his modest achievements would not strengthen our
organization at the decisive moment," he said.
