Maliki to Korean delegation: We want to shorten time for reconstruction

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said, "We want to cut time short to reconstruct the country and improve services provided to our citizens."

During his meeting with the Chairman of the Korean-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Establishment, Maliki added, "We want to benefit from Korean experience in reconstructing out country. We believe that Korea's experience can help us, because Korea was able to shorten time and become an advanced industrial state in a very short period."

A statement on Thursday, Apr. 7, by the Prime Minister's Office quoted Maliki saying that his up coming visit to Korea will be followed by launching a new stage of bilateral cooperation." He pointed out that Korean firms will find opportunities that encourage them to work and invest in Iraq; we will help overcome all obstacles that might stand in their way.

For her part, Chairman of the Korean-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Establishment expressed her country's readiness to actively cooperate with Iraq in its reconstruction scheme.

She asserted that her country is waiting for the Prime Minister's visit to Korea to initiate a new era of mutual cooperation.
