Talabani, Gates discuss consolidating bilateral relations
Baghdad (NINA) – President Jalal Talabani discussed with US Secretary of Defence, Robert Gates, and the delegation accompanying him, means to consolidate bilateral relations.
A statement issued on Thursday, Apr. 7, by the President's Office said, "Talabani stressed the importance to develop constructive cooperation and consolidate the relations between Iraq and the United States and protect mutual interests."
It added, "In the meeting, security and military cooperation was evaluated, as well as the support provided by American forces to Iraq's armed forces in training and supply as well as in rehabilitating their infra structure to enable them carry out the task they are charged to carry out toward providing stability and combating terrorism."
They also discussed issued on common interest.
