Lin Ping's stay in Thailand extended for two more years

CHIANG MAI, April 7 (TNA) - China has reportedly approved a two-year extension of Lin Ping's stay at the Chiang Mai Zoo in northern Thailand, as requested by the Thai government.
Thanapat Pongpamorn, Chiang Mai Zoo's director, told reporters of the update, making Thailand the first country to be allowed to keep a panda for a longer period.
But Thanapat said that the Chiang Mai Zoo has not yet received a confirmation letter from Chinese authorities for the extended stay of "Lin Ping", a popular panda cub at the zoo.
According to the zoo director, the Chiang Mai Zoo will organise a "big party" as soon as it gets the confirmation letter from China, expecting that the celebration will coincide with Lin Ping's second birthday next month. (TNA)
