US says abolition of Jackson-Vanik amendment on agenda for 2011.

WASHINGTON, April 7 (Itar-Tass) -- The U.S. administration said the
abolition of the Jackson-Vanik amendment with regard to Russia was one of
the items on its action plan for the year.
Michael Froman, deputy assistant to the president and deputy national
security adviser for international economic affairs, said on Wednesday,
April. 6, that the question of the amendment would be solved closer to
Russia's admission to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
If Russia joins the WTO, the abolition of the amendment will be
important for American companies and exporters so that they can enjoy the
benefits of Russia's membership in this organisation, he said.
