Maliki calls for promoting cooperation with Finland


Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minster, Nouri Al Maliki, called for “promoting bilateral cooperation with Finland on all domains, especially in agricultural machinery, communications and other domains that Finland enjoys expertise, which Iraq needs.”

A statement issued by Maliki office stated that he received in his office Wednesday the Finnish Minister of External Trade and Development, Bafo Fironin, and the accompanying delegation.

The statement quoted Maliki as reiterating “the necessity of activating joint committee,” hailing Finland’s positive stances supportive to Iraq, especially in Iraq’s debts regards.

He added that the Finnish firms are welcomed to invest in Iraq.

For his part, the Finnish minister confirmed his country’s keenness on activating the joint committee to widen mutual cooperation horizons, referring to the Finnish firms’ desire to invest in Iraqi markets, especially in communications and agriculture.

The statement mentioned that the Finnish delegation will hold meetings with Iraqi officials in agricultural, oil, industrial, communications, and investment domains.

Present at the meeting were minister of Trade, khairullah Babaker, and Head of the National Investment Commission, Sami Al Araji. /End/
