Germany plans to invest 200 million euros into Kazakh railroads

ASTANA, April 6 (Itar-Tass) - The sum of Germany's investments into Kazakhstan's railroads my total more than 200 million euros, the press service of the National Agency for Export and Investments of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and New Technologies said on Wednesday.
"The agency has worked for drawing German investments into the
railroad sector since last year with active support from the German
Ministry of Economy and Technology. Their successful cooperation will help seriously ease dependence on import in this sector," the agency's regional director for Europe, Markhabbat Balgabai, said.
The national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy purchases 2,800 product titles annually, and 80 percent of this amount has to be imported.
According to the agency, German railway operators have already
expresses their intention to invest into the production of contact
temperature sensors and into upgrading railway infrastructures. They are also interested in joint production of railway wheel pairs for Kazakhstan.
