INDIA, April 6 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva finished his visit to India. He said the visit was successful in terms of boosting bilateral relations and cooperation especially in trade, investment and tourism. He expects the value of bilateral trade will rise up to 10 billion US dollars next year.
The April 4-5 visit by Abhisit and his delegation was concluded with a bilateral meeting with the Indian prime minister Tuesday evening followed by a dinner.
The Thai prime minister said his meetings with Indian senior authorities and leading Indian businessmen not only strengthened bilateral relations but also further developed mutual cooperation in many aspects, especially mechanisms for bilateral negotiations that would facilitate mutual trade and investment. He is confident that next year the value of bilateral trade and investment will increase to 10 billion US dollars and the number of Indian arrivals in Thailand will rise from 800,000 to 1 million.
The prime minister said Thailand’s Board of Investment offered promotional privileges to Indian businesses worth 60 million US dollars as a first step to attracting more investment from India to Thailand. The Indian Ministry of Commerce has ranked Thailand as the 28th biggest trade partner of India with mutual trade being valued at 6.7 billion US dollars.
