Timber industry dev'nt council to examine priority projects
MOSCOW, April 6 (Itar-Tass) - The timber industry development council
to the government of the Russian Federation meets here on Wednesday under
the chairmanship of First Vice-Premier Viktor Zubkov to reivew the
implementation of priority investment projects.
A source at the secretariat of the First Vice-Premier told journalists
that the Council would examine primarily projects intended for the
pulp-and-paper industry and also discuss matters aimed at establishing a
state information system for the accounting of procured timber and
refinement of the system of control over the export of timber materials.
At present, twelve projects with aggregate investments amounting to
almost 260,000 million roubles, out of 95 priority investment projects
concerning forest exploitation, are aimed at developing the pulp-and-paper
industry.
The major of them is being implemented with Vneshekonombank's
participation: to establish in Boguchany District, Krasnoyarsk Territory,
a timber processing complex to turn out bleached coniferous kraft pulp,
kraft liners, sawn timber, and woodworking products, as well as
medium-density fiberboard. The declared amount of investments in the
project is more than 73,000 million roubles.
The implementation of all the 12 projects will make it possible
considerbaly to increase the scope of turning out domestic pulp-and-paper
products with a high added value and reduce the share of imported ones,
the source explained.
