Heliport to be built on Russkiy isle by '12 APEC summit
VLADIVOSTOK, April 6 (Itar-Tass) - A heliport is to be built on
Russkiy (Russian) Island by the time of the 2012 summit of the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. A project for it has been
approved Wednesday by Sergei Darkin, Governor of thePrimorsky (maritime)
Territory.
An official at the Territorial department for industry and trnasport
has told Itar-Tass that the project envisions the construction of a
helipad, a car parking zone, places for fire-engines, and a new approach
road. In order to ensure security, provision is made for equipping the
heliport with most up-to-date systems to control air traffic, takeoff and
landing of helicopters. During the APEC summit duration in September 2012,
the heliport will be used to bring delegations to the island and,
subsequently, to airlift passengers and ambulance aviation and emergency
control specialists for prompt aid to victims in case of need.
The project is to be implemented at the expense of Federal budget
resources earmarked in the Federal purpose-oriented programme "The
Development of the Far East and Zabaikalye in a Period ending in 2013". It
is planned that the constructio of the facility will be completed in the
second quarter of 2012.
